Who We Are

Many Perspectives, United

As a Unitarian Universalist congregation, Channing Church bases our teachings on many religious traditions, including Humanist, Theist, Atheist, Pantheist, Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Pagan, Mystic, and Transcendentalist perspectives on theology. Guided by our Unitarian heritage of freedom, reason, and tolerance, we support one another’s religious questioning/questing. Everyone is welcome regardless of race, creed, color, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

Our members come from varying religious, social, and political backgrounds, each bringing their unique perspective to our growing community. We are newborns, parents, and grandparents. We gather each Sunday to learn from each other in services led by our preacher and, once a month, by rotating members of our congregation. We discuss the pressing issues of our contemporary time, seeking wisdom from the world's many great religious traditions.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has”

- Margaret Mead
