Worship With Us Wherever You Are.
Unitarian Universalists have a long history of adapting and changing with the times. That holds true today. While our building remains closed to the public during the COVID-19 crisis, our services have resumed online. We will hold our own virtual service once a month, and attend the virtual services of other churches the remaining weeks. We are continually re-evaluating the situation so we can provide for the spiritual needs of our members while also protecting the health of the community. For the most up-to-date information, please follow us on Facebook or join our email list for weekly updates.
Founded in 1889, Channing Church has welcomed people of all beliefs and backgrounds through our doors for more than 130 years. We hold services at 10 am on Sundays, followed immediately by Coffee Hour. We also host a rich children’s religious education program, a fun and focused youth program throughout the congregational year, and fundraisers to directly benefit our Rockland community.
As a Unitarian Universalist congregation, Channing Church bases our teachings on many religious traditions, including Humanist, Theist, Atheist, Pantheist, Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Pagan, Mystic, and Transcendentalist perspectives on theology. Guided by our Unitarian heritage of freedom, reason, and tolerance, we support one another’s religious questioning/questing. Everyone is welcome regardless of race, creed, color, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
Channing Church Affirmation
Love is the doctrine of this church
The quest for truth is its sacrament
And service is its prayer.
To dwell together in peace;
To seek knowledge in Freedom;
To serve humanity in fellowship;
To the end that all souls shall grow
Into harmony with the divine.
Thus do we covenant with each other
And with God.
