Our Services

We gather for services on Sundays at 10:00am September through June with occasional services during the summer. The services feature traditional sermons led by a minister, speakers from the community as well as services that are led by members of our congregation. The services are always inspirational, topical, as well as informative.

On behalf of the Prudential Committee, I want to say how excited we are to have Reverend Ed Hardy coming to preach from our pulpit twice a month. He is a fantastic preacher whose sermons will stick with you for a long time after you hear them.
Reverend Hardy is currently the minister at the First Parish Church in Bridgewater. He is a practicing Buddhist but his sermons speak eloquently to people of all faiths.
Our arrangements with Reverend Hardy are different than those we've had with ministers in the past. Reverend Hardy's responsibility to us is to preach twice a month and to spend time with us during the coffee hour following the services he leads.
Because of our financial limitations, we have not been able to hire him for things like visiting the sick, meeting with those in crisis, or supporting our various committees. By being with us two Sundays a month, however, Reverend Hardy is providing us with a great deal.
He gives us a consistent voice in the pulpit and a ministerial presence in our church, he strengthens the bonds we have with First Parish Bridgewater, he ministers to our children by providing a children's moment in the service, and he provides us with fellowship during coffeehour.
We feel very fortunate to have Reverend Hardy with us at Channing Church and look forward to a fantastic church year! Altar

Channing Church Affirmation

Love is the doctrine of this church
The quest for truth is its sacrament
And service is its prayer.
To dwell together in peace;
To seek knowledge in Freedom;
To serve humanity in fellowship;
To the end that all souls shall grow
Into harmony with the divine.
Thus do we covenant with each other
And with God.
