We began the quilt as part of a district wide project called PEACE WAVE, sponsored by the Ballou Channing Religious Education Committee. Just as peace begins within, and then spreads like a wave in the mighty ocean, it was our hope to send this quilt out into the world, bringing with it the messages of beauty, hope and peace.

We decided to raffle off the quilt to raise money for the Religious

Thank you to everyone who bought raffle tickets and supported this
very special project!!
WINNER OF THE PEACE QUILT
RAFFLE!!!
This long awaited drawing took place at the close
of the Holiday Fair in November. Sara was
the lucky winner, thanks to the nimble choice fingers of her little sister Izzy! Sara was one
of many children who worked on the quilt last year along with teachers and parent
volunteers. We all waited, holding our
breath, as Izzy slowly and carefully picked a ticket
from the can. What a thrill it was to
read Sara’s name! What luck for
one of our very own Channing children to have the honor of
taking home this labor of love!
But Sara had other plans for the quilt. The next day during Sunday services, she
surprised this teacher by giving the quilt to me!! I was to say the least, overwhelmed with
emotion.
Thank you Sara for your very sweet and generous
gift! My heart swells with pride and
joy!
What a beautiful act of thoughtfulness and loving
kindness. Next month, the quilt will
return to Channing Church and will become a
permanent addition to our Children’s Chapel…
a lasting symbol of our
Peace Project and our expression of hope for Peace in the world.
With
love, Becky
